Milano Cortina 2026: A Retrospective for Milan Visitors

The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics have ended. Their official dates were 6–22 February 2026; the Winter Paralympics followed from 6–15 March 2026. This page is now a retrospective, not a guide to buying tickets or planning around live competitions.
A Winter Games spread across northern Italy
The competitions took place across several parts of northern Italy, including Milan, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Bormio, Livigno, Val di Fiemme, and Anterselva/Antholz. There was no single Olympic park: the city events and mountain competitions were hosted in different communities across the region.
That distributed setup was a defining feature of the Games. Milan was one host area among several, rather than a base from which every competition could be reached.
Milan's role
The opening ceremony took place at the Milano San Siro Olympic Stadium (Stadio Giuseppe Meazza) on 6 February. The stadium is covered in our San Siro guide. Milan-area ice events were held at several venues: the Milano Ice Skating Arena, Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena, Milano Rho Ice Hockey Arena, and Milano Speed Skating Stadium. The closing ceremony took place at the Verona Olympic Arena (Arena di Verona) on 22 February, outside Milan.
